b. The practice of Sabbath allows one to cultivate a spirit of restfulness.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!
Genesis 1:1, 31a
So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.
c. God created a kind of rest that is a delight. What can you do for 24 hours that gives you the most joy?
The Sabbath is an entire day set aside to follow God’s example, stop, and delight in his world, in your life in it, and above all, in God himself.
d. Sabbath is an invitation to an exercise of experiential grace.

Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”
c. Jesus says, “You join your life with mine and I will take care of the REST.”
