Flattening The Curve
Habakkuk 2:1-4, 20 & Psalm 34:1-6
1. Hopefully Verses Hope Fully
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
2. Review: Habakkuk: He That Embraces; A Wrestler
3. Waiting On God To Act…
a .Three things we can do when we are waiting.
I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he [God] will say to me …
Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets ...”
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!”
Habakkuk 2:3 (The Living Bible)
b. Two things we must remember when we are waiting.
i. If it’s not God’s time, we can’t force it!
ii. When it is God’s time, we can’t stop it!
“See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright—but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness—”
“But the LORD is in his holy temple…”
4.Accretion: Something Formed Or Added By Gradual Growth Or Increase.
a. Seek God’s Face
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”
b. Study God’s Word
“People do not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
c. Sing God’s Praises
“I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly sing his praises.”
5. Conclusion: Spiritual growth is slow and steady, not peaks and valleys.
