Loving Like Jesus Loves Me

John 13:1-15, 34-35

Jesus: "I'm giving you a new commandment: Love each other in the same way that I have loved you.”  John 13:34

“I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you!”  John 13:15

2.  Four Ways I Can Love Like Jesus Love Me…

      a.  _______________ others like Jesus _______________ me.

“The Father gives me my people.  Every one of them will come to me, and I will always accept them.”  John 6:37

"Even if my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will receive me."  Psalm 27:10

“Jesus treated us much better than we deserve.  He made us acceptable to God and gave us the hope of eternal life.”  Titus 3:7

“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you.”  Romans 15:7

"We must bear the "burden" of being considerate of the doubts and fears of others..."  Romans 15:2a

      b. _______________ others like Jesus _______________ me.

“Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God. Even the hairs of your head have all been counted!  Do not be afraid. You are worth far more than many sparrows.”  Luke 12:6-7

  • Value depends on who _______________ you.

“For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

  • Value depends on what someone will _______________ for it.

“He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.”   1 Peter 1:19

"Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you. See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands!”  Isaiah 49:15-16

“Treat everyone you meet with dignity.”  1 Peter 2:17

      c. _______________ others like Jesus _______________ me.

"I am the God who forgives your sins, and I do this because of who I am. I will not hold your sins against you.”  Isaiah 43:25

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  Romans 8:1

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”  Matthew 26:28

“You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”  Colossians 3:13

“Shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?”  Matthew 18:33

3.  Conclusion…

  • You Can’t Fully Love Others Until You Realize How Much God Loves You.

“May you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is.”  Ephesians 3:18
